GRACE IN WALKING
Tlie day is past when women attempt to wear shoes too small for them. No longer can. they be made the subject of jest and story in this particular. Nowadays they realise that a too short or -too narrow shoe adds to, instead of detracting from, the size of the foot. Compressed flesh and bone must be put somewhere, and when it overlaps the sole it is not pretty, and quite ruins the shape and style of the shoe. Besides, it is a physical impossibility for anybody to walk well or easily in a tight shoe, and grace and suppleness are prime factors in a woman's beauty today. Therefore, when the modern woman who prides herself on making the best of herself, buys a pair of shoes, she insists upon having them both long and broad enough to fit her feet comfortably.
