A meeting of those interested in the proposed Cycling Club was held at Petone on Tuesday evening. Mr E. W. Woodhouse presided. It was decided to form a club, embracing both cycling and other athletic sports, under the name of the Hutt Valley Cycling ana Athletic Club. Over forty persons have signified their intention of joining. It was also decided to hold a sports meeting at an early date. Several trophies have been promised towards the meeting. The following officers have been elected: —Captain, Mr V. Dryden; secretary and treasurer, Mr H. Clifford j assistant secretary, Mr B. Matthews; committee, Messrs A. and F. Nattrass, Bradley, Williams, Swan, Berntsen and Odlin. A Sydney exchange states that the crew of the brigantine Eotumah. which loaded, a cargo of timber for New Zealand, refused to leave Maclean (N.S.W.) in her, alleging that- she leaking badly. Captain Free, R.N.R., who went Home to bring out Messrs'Huddart-ParkeEa new steamer Victoria, has resumed his position as manager of the Huddart-Park* er branch office at Newcastle
