The American and Australian Steamship Company’s steamer,-Queen Mary was to sail from New York on the 24th of December for New Zealand ports. The same company's vessel Essex (twin screw) will sail from New York on the 31st inst. for Australian and New Zealand ports. Mr G. F. Bullen, of Kaikoura, who has given a large donation to the Otago University Fund, was well known ip Dunedin in the old mining. days. He afterwards devoted much time and money to developing the industry. Builendale is named after him-
