A SURPRISE FOR THE CAB DRIVER.
Broad farce seems to have developed in real life at Kettering, where a barrister of the Midland Circuit, who had been addressing a meeting, lost the last train and engaged a cab to drive him to Northampton. Before starting, the driver proceeded to change his horse, the fare meanwhile taking the opportunity to leave the vehicle for a. ‘'refresher.” Before the lawyer returned the Kettering Jehu mounted his hansom, and then some practical joker slammed the door and shouted, ‘“All right.” Cabby innocently set off on his
seventeen-mile, journey, and it was not until Northampton was reached and he pulled up to inquire the address desired that he found his fare missing. He at once turned for home 1 , and was rather surprised to meet on the way another cab from the same hotel containing his missing fare.
