DASHING DEED OF AN ARTILLERY OFFICER. LONDON, February 12. One of the incidents of the engagement at Vaalkrantz, north of the Tugela, was the plucky rescue of a MaximVickers gun belonging to the Boers. The British troops were about to seize the weapon, when a Boer officer named Viljoen drove up with a team of horses, in the midst of lyddite shelling, and with a splendid dash carried it off almost under their eyes.
