NOTES.

Who is tho oldest living amateur photographer ? The honour belongs to tho Rev Canon Beeehoy, of London, who, though in his ninetieth year, is still, as tho phrase goes, an enthusiastic photographer. What is more, ho is a successful and active one, always devoting his annual vacations to camera-touring. Tho Reverend Canon was identified with tho introduction of tho Beeehey collodion and tho Beeehoy plates many years ago. Amateur photography may ono of these days bo discovered by tho faculty to possess distinct inducements to longevity. During tho week I was shown some of the results of shots taken with the Pocket .Kod;«lc, b£ Mr W. Cifs'tle, one of our local amateurs. And some little time ago I saw a negative of the Public Library taken by Mr Shaw with this little instrument, which “ pros.” said would stand enlarging up to 10 x 12. It is surprising what good results can be obtained with this littto "toy” Being tho first to use a Pocket Kodak in Wellington, I can recommend them to those who are interested in photography 1 1 - -1. .IV - ,1 L B M/MA 11

As wo aro well into tho lantern slide season now, and will no doubt bo soon having another of those very enjoyable “Lantern Evenings” at the Club room, it is time for us to rouse ourselves and see that our slides are ready. To those interested in this branch of photography, and who delight in copying, I would recommend tho purchase of a publication called “ Beautiful Britain,” in which there aro scones and pictures to please even the most fastidious. It is published hero by Messrs H. and J. Baillie, and is complete in twelve parts at sixpvnco each part.
