WELLINGTON EXHIBITION.

A meeting of tho Executive Committee of the Industrial Exhibition was held at the secretary’s office last week. A deputation from the Wellington Agricultural and Pastoral Associationconsisting of Messrs D. Sladden and Hanna, waited on the committee to ask that tho Exhibition should be opened at the same time as the Association’s show is being held. Mr Sladden said the Association was making a special effort this year to bring stock from a distance. There were some of tho largest prizes ever given in New Zealand, and they had large promises of support from tho South Island, and there was every reason to believe there would be a larger attendance from a distance than before. The Association could not alter the date of the show, which was determined by the dates of other shows. Mr Millward moved, “That the Exhibition bo opened on Wednesday, 18th November, instead of tho 25th, at tho request of the deputation of the Agricultural and Pastoral Associat ion.” Tho motion was seconded by Mr Booth, and carried. Tho Wellington Amateur Athletic Club wrote stating they would do their best to havo the New Zealand Championship Meeting held in Wellington during tho time tho Exhibition isopen. A sub-committee recommended that tea packers bo allowed to sell tea and refreshments in tho space allotted to them, and that in return for such privilege tho packers be charged a rental of .£'2 per week for the currency of the Exhibition, tho schedule of the refreshments to he approved of by the committee. The report was adopted. The Christchurch members of the executive wrote stating that in their opinion it would bo unwise to have any competition or awarding of certificate other than that which was given at the Christchurch Exhibition. Tho meeting decided that there should lie no judging of exhibits at (he Exhibition, but the chairman remarked that in all probability a certificate v.oiild lie granted to all exhibitors.
