WELLINGTON CHESS CLUB.

Tho annual general meeting of the Wellington Chess Club was held in the clubroom, Exchange Buildings, on Tuesday night.

The report and balance-sheet were adopted.

The election of officers resulted as follows : —President, Air C. AY. Benbow (reelected) ; vice-presidents, Dr James, Hon F. Arkwright, Alcssrs W r . F. Barraud, J. G. Anderson, Thomas Turnbull, A. J. AlcTavish, C. T. Richardson and G. Wright ; lion secretary and treasurer, Air W. E. Alason; committee, Alcssrs P. Hill, W. Maekay, W. Brown, A. Ltdiovro and F. K. Rolling ; auditor, Air W. E. Pethorick.

After considerable discussion, it was resolved, on the motion of Air Rolling,(to admit ladies as members of tho Club. The question of what amount the subscription should lio was then discussed. Some members thought it should bo 2s (id; others that it should be £1 Is, the samo as for other members. It was eventually fixed at 10s (id oil the casting vote of tho chairman. Votes of thanks were given to tho retiring officers, including a special vote to the retiring lion, secretary, Mr 11. C. Skeot.
