The head nurses at the Hospital having been asked whether they preferred to be distinguished by their Christian or surnames, Mr F. H. Fraser reported at the meeting of the Trustees yesterday morning that the nurses had decided in favour of being called by their Christian names. In future, therefore, the head nurses will be known as “ Sister Alice ” or “ Sister Mary,” as tlie case may be. Mr L. L. Harris said he supposed the male attendants would be called “ Brother.” The Chairman : And the matron “ Mother,” and the doctor “Father John.” The Chairman said it was something for the nurses to endeavour to struggle for. Mr G. Allen said the whole thing was “ bunkum.”

At the annual Hospital ball at Greytown there were visitors from all parts of the Wairarapa. The Palace Hall was beautifully decorated, and the scene during the dancing was a brilliant one. Mr F. H. Wood worked indefatigably as secretary.
