A party of 30 men has been selected by the Department of Labour in order to start operations at once at the northern end of the Alfredton-Weber road in the Danevirke district. Eight men from Pahiatua and five from Palmerston North are also to be put on the work. All these men will be employed upon the alternate systems. In other words they will take up sections of land in the district and will work half their time upon the construction of the road and the other half upon their own sections of land. A party of 25 men is to be selected within a few days from the residents of the Forty-mile Bush in order to be put on the Eketahuna-Woodville Railway works.
