WELLINGTON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION
A special meeting of the Wellington Agricultural and Pastoral Association wap held in the Chamber of Commerce yester-; day week, Mr E. W. M-fils (vicer-president) in the chair. The iqeeting was called for the purpose of making alterations in the rules. The main alterations made wereln rule 2, the npmber of vice-presidents was altered to two, and auditors* to one or more.” In rule 4 it was decided that the affairs of the Association shall he managed by a president, two yiep -presidents!, treasurer and a general committee of not more than 24 members, who shall be elected at the annual .general meeting, and shall remain in office until their successors are elected. On the motion of Mr F. Majendie, MrF. J. Stuckey, Levin, was elected a member of the Association. This concluded the business of the meeting-
At 2.30 p.m. the annual general meeting of the Association was held, the president (Mr W. If. Beetham) in the chair, Yhe Chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, which have already been published, said it was gratifying to find that the Association had now a credit balance, and that they wer§ in a flourishing condition. He hoped they /would remain in that condition, and that the coming year would be even more successful than the past year. The motion was seconded by Mr E. "VV. Mills. Mr W. E. Bidwill expressed the opinion that the Association should pay back the £SO advanced by the Hutt Park Railway Company, who had treated them very kindly. The motion was carried. ELECTION OP OFFICERS. On the motion of Dr Newman, seconded by Mr A. Crawford, Mr E. W. Mills was elected president for the ensuing year. Other officers were elected as follows : —- Vice-presidents, Messrs F. Bradey and A. Matthews ; hon treasurer, Mr R. Wilberfoss; general committee, Messrs W, H. Beetham, H. H. Beetham, John Bidwill, W. E. Bidwill, W. S. Broderick, A. D. Crawford, W. A. Fitzherbert, W. A. Grace, W. Lingard, Charles Elgar, T. K. Hannah,. W. G. Foster, F. A. Majendie, A. McKenzie, W. 11. Millward, L. Nathan, A. E. Pearce, E. J. Riddiford, G. H. Scales, D. Sladden, J. Stuckey, H. Gillies, H. Eglinton, and Dr A. K. Newman.
Dr Newman, proposed that all the revenues of the incoming year be placed at the disposal of the newly - elected committee, in accordance with rule 11. After some discussion, the amount was fixed at .£ISOO, and the motion, having been seconded by Mr W. E. Bidwill, was carried. Dr Newman proposed votes of thanks to the retiring president (Mr W. H. Beetham), vice-president (Mr E. W. Mills), and treasurer (Mr W. H. Millward) for their valuable services during the past year. This was seconded by Mr D. Sladden, and carried unanimously. Mr W. Lingard said he thought they ought to express their thanks to those gentlemen who came forward so generously and assisted the Association in their hour of need. (Applause.) Mr W. E. Bidwill proposed a vote of thanks to the secretary (Mr H. D. O’Callaghan) who had done such valuable work for the Association. Mr W. H. Beetham seconded, and the

Badham was elected auditor to the Association: Mr A; Crawford proposed that the catalogue be Revised after the show of each year by the General Committee, and any alterations which may be necessary made therein. The motion Was seconded by Mr D. Sladden, and after some discussion was lost. Mr D. P. Lynch proposed, “ That the Wellington A. and P. Association is of opinion that in the best interests of the Association it is desirable to publish a journal of the proceedings of the Association/' Mr F. A. Majendie seconded the motion pro forma. Dr Newman proposed as an amendment, “ That it be an instruction to the incoming committee to negotiate with kindred societies for the purpose of promoting a journal in the interests of farmers.” This was seconded by Mr A. D. Crawford, and, Mr Lynch having withdrawn his motion, the amendment became the substantive motion, and was carried. The proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks to the press and to the president for presiding.
