WEDDING BELLS.

MORTON—McOULLUM. On the 27th March at Christ Church, Wanganui, Miss Florence Emily Morton, daughter of the late Mr Thomas Morton, of Wanganui, was married to Mr John McCullum, youngest son of Mr Robert McCullum. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr W. Morton, wore a handsome dress of cream nun’s veiling, with the orthodox veil and wreath of orange blossoms, and was attended by her sister, Miss Clara Morton, and Mabel and Ida Miller. Messrs L. Strachan and W. Collorige officiated as groomsmen. The Rev T. B. Maclean was the officiating clergyman. DIXON—COLEMAN. . On the 26th March, at the residence of the bride’s parents, Mr James Coleman, second son of Mr Moses Irons Coleman, Cliff Line, was married to Alice Maud Louisa Dixon, eldest daughter of the late W. F. Dixon, schoolmaster, Rangitikei. The Rev D. Gordon was the officiating clergyman.

BOLTON—SADD. At All Saints’ Church, Nelson, on the 26th March, Miss Lilias Wilson Bolton, third daughter of Mr S. Bolton, was married to Mr J. B. Sadd, a well-known resident. The Rev C. P. Caehemaille was the officiating clergjunan. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a lovely dress of white silk crepon trimmed with moire silk and silk sleeves, with a tulle veil and wreath of orange blossoms. The bridesmaids were Miss Bolton, sister of the bride, who wore a pale green dress trimmed with dark green, and a dark green hat, Miss. Sadd, and Miss J. The bridegroom’s present to each of the bridesmaids was a gold brooch* Among the many handsome presents received by the bride was a beautiful one* from the members of the Choir of All Saints’ Church, of which she was a member for several years* HAWKEN—COYERD ALE. The quiet little township of Kakaramea tip the coast, was enlivened on the 26th March by the wedding of Miss Nina Hawken, third daughter of Mr J. Hawken, of Kakaramea, to Mr T. Coverdale, of Christchurch. The marriage took place at the residence of the bride’s father, the : immediate relatives only being present. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a handsomexlresg of brocaded cashmere, with duchesse satin sleeves and trimmings, with a profusion of orange blossoms, and the orthodox veil. The bridesmaids were Misses Mabel, Jessie, Bose, and Etta, sisters of the bride; the two former wearing white and heliotrope, and the two younger beingin white and yellow. Mr Alfred Bayly acted as groomsman. In the afternoon Mr and Mrs Hawken entertained a large company of, guests, there being visitors from all along the coast from Waverley to Hawera, who totalled about 120. The presents were numerous and beautiful, numfc^ering^-,quite a hundred. To the bride the bridegroom had given a handsome diamond bangle and brooch; and to the bridesmaids ruby and diamond rings and curb bangles. Between four and five o’clock Mr and Mrs Coverdale, amid the customary showers of rice and expressions of good wishes, left for Hawera en route for Auckland.

NICOLL—CARTER. On the 28th March at the Presbyterian Church, Marton, Miss Ellen McFarlane Nieoll, youngest, daughter of Mr Nicoll, of Marton, was married to Mr Robert Joseph Carter, eldest son of Mr Henry Carter, Rose Ash, Devonshire, England. The Rev D. Gordon tied the nuptial knot. The bride, who was given away by her mother, wore a handsome travelling dress of fawn tweed and silk, with silk bonnet to match. Her bridesmaid was her sister Miss A. Nicoll, who wore a pretty dress of Indian silk with pink silk trimmings, and wore a handsome bangle, the gift of the bridegroom. Mb Robert Kilgour acted as best man./'The ceremony over the happy pair drove to the residence of the bride’s mother, where the wedding breakfast was partaken of. Mr and Mrs Carter will take up their residence in Wanganui after a brief honeymoon. TRAYNOR - TYSON. At the Presbyterian Church, Hunterville, last week, Miss C. A. Traynor, fifth daughter of Mr P. Traynor, late of Christchurch, was married to Mr F. W. Tyson, the well-known coach proprietor of Ohingaiti. Mesdames Grace and Campbell, sisters of the bride, were her attendant?, and Mr Campbell the groomsman. The honeymoon is to be spent in Wanganui, the happy couple afterwards returning to Ohingaiti, where they will reside. JOYCE —FIELD.

On Saturday last, writes a Christchurch correspondent, Lyttelton was quite en fete, bunting being liberally displayed on the shipping, at the Harbour Board’s Office, and on the principal places of business, the occasion being the wedding of Miss Joyce, eldest daughter of Mx John Joyce, M.H.R. for the district. The wedding ceremony took place at the residence of the bride’s parents, and was performed by the Rev P. W. Fairclougli. Shortly after the breakfast the newly-wedded couple embarked on board the\s.s. Rotomahana en route for the Lake district, where they spend the honeymoon. On their return they proceed to Pahiatua, where Mr Field owns some rich agricultural land, upon which he proposes to make his future home. A large party of friends accompanied Mr and Mrs Field to the wharf to wish them bon voyage.

BROWN —MATEAVERS. On the Ist instant • at Ashurst, Miss Sarah Brown, of Wanganui, was married to Mr Joseph Edward Matravers, of Feilding, a son of Mr W. Matravers, Clerk of the Magistrate’s Court at Palmerston. The bridegroom is well known and very popular in athletic circles throughout the Manawatu district. The ceremony, which took place at Mr W. Piercey’s residence, was conducted by the Rev Mr Cocker. FUTTER—SMITH. On the 14th of last month a very pretty wedding took place at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Wellington, when Miss Eva Futter, eldest daughter of the late Mr John Futter, a well known and respected resident of Wellington, was married to Mr John Sydney Smith, eldest son of Mr Frank Smith, of Paikakariki. The ceremony was conducted by the Rev Mr Sprott. The bride, who was charmingly attired in a dress of cream brocade satin, and who wore the usual veil of tulle and a wreath of orange blossoms, was given away by her uncle, Mr H. Michell, of ELarori. The bridesmaids were Miss K. Michell, Miss S. Smith (sister of the bridegroom) and Miss Gertrude Futter. The two former were dressed in cream silk delaine, with maize silk sleeves and black hats trimmed with maize. Miss Futter’s dress was pale blue nun’s veiling trimmed with white moire and a white hat. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a : handsome gold watch and . chain,' while each of the brides-

maids wore a very fine gold bangle, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr H. Upham officiated as best man, After the ceremony the party were entertained at afternoon tea by Mrs Joslin, the mother of the bride, at her residence, Elwood, Grant Road. The wedding presents were very numerous, and included a number of valuable and useful articles. The young couple left on a honeymoon trip to Australia, taking with them the best wishes of many friends.
