THE MINISTER OF LANDS.

Dtjnedin, February 23. The Hon J. McKenzie, Minister of Lands, addressed his constituents at Naseby last night, the Mayor presiding. The Minister's address was much the same as at Dunedin, except that he dealt at length with the question of the Otago Central Railway, which he said had been pushed on without borrowed money. The line would soon be in the centre of the plains, and it would be for the Colony to say whether it should then be gone on with further. A vote of confidence in Mr McKenzie and the Government was carried. The banquet which followed was a great success, many being unable to gain admission till those first in came out; and the tables were replenished more than once. Owing to the lateness of the hour the speeches were short and unimportant.
