"Dear Sir, —I request you will read this at to-night's meeting of Synod:— Hearing both last night and the previous numbers of members of Synod over whom you preside, unrebuked and unchecked by yourself, loudly declaring the ' Church of England' not to be a Protestant Church; in consequence, I submit my resignation to you as synodsman from Hunterville parish, and from all further connection with the Church of England in this diocese. . And I also request this to be published and recorded in the transactions of Synod. " W. A. Blundell, " Synodsman, "To the Ven. Archdeacon Fancourt, " President Diocesan Synod, "Wellington."
