WILKINS AND FIELD Beg to call the attention of Station Managers and Sheep Owners to TATTOO EAR-MARKER OR MR AMR (PATENTED) m (1.) It is simple, and can be applied either to the Ear or Body, thus enabling an owner to identify his Sheep at any time of their lives- . _ (2.) As a private Mark for distinguishing the projeny of Pure Bred, or Pedigree Stock, it has no equal. (3.) It acts as a check to sheep stealing, the Tattoo Mark showing through the skin after the sheep have been slaughtered. Any required design can be made on giving one day’s notice. Extra adjustable discs or brands (which can be screwed on and off at will, in place of the ordinary one used for usual marking purposes) can also be supplied, if required. Instructions for use are sent away with each Brand sold, as also a sufficient quantity ot the dye to mark 500 sheep. This Tattoo Marker is becoming a great success, several large sheep owners in Canterbury have now marked their entire flocks with it, one flock of thirty thousand sheep have all been marked with it on the brisket —one man being able to mark Two Thousand sheep per day if yarded up. The mode of operation is as follows :—'ihe sheep are held up same position as in shearing and the person who operates dips a small sponge, which is fastened to the end of a piece of stick say a foot long, into a small tin holding the dye in a liquid state ; this sponge holds enough dye to mark 8 or 12 sheep without redipping in the solution. He then drives the pins on the disc into each sheep in turn ; they are then let go and fresh sheep caught by those holding. Sheep were publicly examined the other day in Canterbury that had been branded three months ago, and the mark was perfect, now appearing as one continuous brand, and not in pricked dots as on the day they were first marked. Price, including enough dye to mark 500 sheep, 15s. Either red, blue, or black dye can be supplied at 6s per £lb tin, containing enough dye to mark, say, 200 sheep. WILKINS AND FIELD, Agents, Manners-street, Wellington.
