It has boon estimated that in France there are about tei million houses. . Half of these are exclusively occupied by their respective owners. The cumber of tenants who are not proprietors is about tbroa millions. There ii a larger number of land proprietors than of persona possessing no land ; and in house property there are about five ownsrß to three or four tenants. An»ong ten million electors, there are six million masters and little more than three million workmen, so that there are nearly two voting maßtere to every voting »ork« man.
