FIXTURES FOR THE SEASON. Following are the First and Second Class Championship fixtures for the season : Fihst-Class Championship. FIRST ROUND. December 19 and January 2 (1592) —Rival v. Midland January (1892) 9 and January 16—Wellington v. Phoenix SECOND ROUND. January 23 and January 30 —Wellington v. Midland February 6 and February 13—Phoenix v. Rival February 20 and February 27 —Wellington v. Rival March and March 12 —Phoenix v. Midland March 19 and March 26—Rival v. Midland April 2 and April 9—Wellington v. Phoenix All the First Class Championship matches will be played on No. 1 wicket, and will be continued for two Saturdays, and if not completed on the second Saturday, the match will be played out during the following week in tha evening. SECOND-CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP. FIRST ROUND. November 28 —Midland v St Patrick’s December s—Rival5 —Rival v Wellington December 12 —Rival v Phoenix. The fixtures for the first roand of the Third Class Championship matches are as follows : Dec. 12 —Karori v. Kilbirnie, No. 3 wicket Rival v. Phcenix, College Ground (Br Electric Telegraph—Copyright). ENGLAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES. (press association.) Sydney, December 6. In the cricket match New South Wales v Lord Sheffield’s team, the local men batted first making 74, Bannerman being ths highest scorer with 25. The Englishmen made 94 in their first innings M. Reid being top with 20. Turner took six wickets for 45. In their second essay the New South Wales team have lost five wickets for 132 runs. The principal scores being : —Turner, 40; Donnan, 32 ; Moses, not out, 30. The weather is glorious, but the wicket is difficult to play. Sydney, December 7. In their second innings New South Wales made 172, Moses 55. The Englishman made 155 for the loss of six wickets only, and won the match by four Wickets, Lohmann being not out 34. There was an immense attendance, and tha finish of the match caused great excitement, a 3 the sixth wicket of the Englishmen fell for 95, and it looked almost a certainty for the colonials ; but Lohmann and Peel made a splendid stand, and hit off the required runs, despite all the efforts of the local men. Turner took five wickets for 77. London, December 8. The secretaries of the county cricket clubs have unanimously resolved to invite an Australian team to visit England in 1894. . It is thought that in future a visit every fourth year will be sufficient. Lord Hawke, captaiu of tne Yorkshire County team, declared the whole thing moneymaking business.
