NELSON v. WELLINGTON. The above match was played off on Saturday last on the Wellington Club’s grounds, and resulted, after a well-contested and most enjoyable game of 25 heads, in a victory for Wellington by 15 points. The visitors arrived by the midday train from Palmerston, and though somewhat fatigued by tho journey, were still in good form, and kept our men close to work to maintain any advantage. They were welcomed to the green by a few cordial words from Mr Barraud, the president of the Wellington Club, who expressed his pleasure and appreciatlon of their visit, and hopes that they would have a pleasant game, and the best men win. The Nelson men were accorded three hearty cheers by their opponents, which they as heartily returned, at the instance of Mr Winton, who thanked Mr Barraud for his welcome; and the teams then got to work. There were a large numbor of spectators, who appeared to take great interest in the game, and to whom the hospitality of the Club was dispensed during the afternoon. At the seventh head Wellington held a lead of 8 points, which, at tho was increased to 10, and at the 24th to 19.
