Fashionable Marriage.
The marriage of Mr W. T. Locke Travers to Miss Theodosia Leslie Barclay was solemnised on Thursday at St. .Peter’s Chnrch by the Rev W. C. Waters. The bride, who is the eldest daughter of Captain William M. de R. Barclay, of Wellington (late of H.M.’s 24th Foot Regiment), and granddaughter of the late Sir David William Barclay, Bart., was given away by her father, her bridesmaids being the Misses Constance and Ethel Barclay, _Maude, Isabel, and Ida Coleridge, and Alice Travers, all of whom wore dresses of embroidered white muslin with heliotrope sashes and ribbons; they also each wore a handsome brooch, the gift of the bridegroom. Among others present were Mrs Barclay, mother of the bride, Mrs Coleridge, daughter of Mr Travers, and his daughter-in-law, Mrs Henry Travers. The bride’s dress was of ivory white satin merveilleux, trimmed with Maltese lace and orange blossoms, her veil being of tulle, richly embroidered with flowerß in floss silk fastened with a pearl star. The other ornaments were a gold collar and pendant, with bracelets to match, gifts of the bridegroom. She carried a large and handsome bouquet of choice flowers presented to her by Mr Mason, of the Taita. Captain Beamish, late of Her Majesty’s 14th Foot, acted as “ best man ” to the bridegroom. At the close of the ceremony the wedding party drove to Captain Barclay’s residence where breakfast was partaken of, and in the afternoon the newly-married couple left for a trip to the southern lakes.
