ATHLETIC CLUB. The annual meeting of the Athletic Football Club was held at the Occidental Hotel last night week. There was a large attendance, Mr J. M. King being in the chair. The following new members were elected :—Messrs M. Stuart, C. Thompson, H. Wiggins, J. Page, J. -Blee, M. Murphy, O. McCormick, M. Foley, J. Pauli, and W. Simons. The report and balance-sheet were presented, and showed that the Committee were able to congratulate the members on a successful season. More matches were ployed by the Club than in previous years, and it may be said that the standard of play was also higher. The first fifteen, although not realising all the success that was anticipated, had an exceedingly good record, playing 11 matches, of which they won seven and lost four. The second and third fifteens also played a large number of matches, but with not a great amount of success. The Club sent a team to Napier during tho Easter holidays, playing two matches —one against the Napier Club, which was lost, and another against the Harriers, which was won by the Athletic Club by eight points to one. In addition to the usual Cup matches, the Club also played two matches against the Greytown and Palmerston North Ciubs ; both of these matches, which were played in Wellington, resulting in victories. The Club’s second annual halfmile handicap race was run on the 6th July ; 13 started, and the race wa3 won by J. Mills. The Committee regret that the gymnasium had not been well attended by members, and had resulted in a loss of L 5 ss.

The financial position of the Club is good, the receipts of tho Ciub being L 54 14s 7d, and the expenditure LSO Os 2d, leaving a cr.dit balance of L 4 14s sd, with cutstanding subscriptions amounting to Ll 3 17s 2d. In conclusion, the Committee would urge upon members the necessity for more sys'etnatic training during toe coming season. On the motion of Mr J. M. King, seconded by Mr W. Fraser, the report and balance sheet were adopted. The Chairman read a 'summary of matches played iiiiring the season, and pointed out that Mr W. Fraser had scored most for ih ■ Club, he having succeeded in scoring 30 points, namely, three goals from penalty kicks, four potted goals, two goals from tries, and three tries. The result was received with applause. Tee election of officers resulted as follows :—President, Mr 11. D. Bell (reelect. d) ; Vice-Presidents, Mr S Kohn, Captain Falconer, Mr G. F. C. On the motion of Mr E. Connall by-law No. 9 was altered so as to read—“ That the uniform of the club shall be white instead of black knickerbockers.” It was decided to open the season on Saturday week with a scratch match. A vote of thanks to the chairman brought the proceedings to a close.
