The “ Herald’s ” Alexandra correspondent says :—Parengera, father of Winiata, has become porangi (mad), and armed himself with a gun and left the settlement, declaring his intention of having utu or payment by killing a pakeha or half-caste. Tawhiao, hearing of it, has taken steps to restrain the madman.
