SIR, —After the extraordinary manner in which George Butler Earp, Esq., has been by |he Government deprived of his seat in the Council, and the injury done to the Colony by the loss oi his valuable services, in direct violation of the 12th clause of the Royal Charter, and in opposition to the instructions under the Sign Manual to Your Excellency, dated 9th December, 1840 ; and in consequence of the names of Mr. Fitzgerald and others being still retained in the Commission of the Peace, after they have forfeited the rights oft Gentlemen, I have the honor to request that Your Excellency will be pleased to take my name off the list of Magistrates of this Colony, However willing and anxious I feel to maintain and to support the proper observance of the Laws of my country, I reckon it no honor to allow my name to be associated in any manner, with such, men and such proceedings. An allotment in West Queen-street, 20 feet frontage and 60 deep ; one half of the allotment is let to Mr. Gill, watchmaker, for 7 years, (who is to erect a house wortn £2OO on said allotment within 2 years) at a yearly rent of £26: on the other half of the allotment there is an excellent Rapoo house, let for 14s. per week.
