MAORI REPRESENATIVES INCLUSION OF NEW PLAYERS It was reported at last evening's meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Rugby Union that there would be three alterations in the Maori team which will play Auckland at Eden Park on Saturday afternoon. Potier, who has been playing splendid football at halfback for the Marist fifteen, will take the place of M. N. Paewai, who is going to Wellington with the first Auckland team. P„ Smith, the brillian North Auckland back, will play at five-eighths and Puke (Army), who has been chosen to play for New Zealand services against New Zealand, will take the place of Cberrington (North Auckland) on the wins, the last-named having suffered an injury. The resignation on account of ill-health of R. G. Billingham from the junior boys' management board was received. Mr Billingham for some years past has been chairman of the board. The resignation was accepted with regret, the meeting placing on record its appreciation of the services of Mr Billingham during the past 23 years. Permission was given to the Parnell senior team to visit Howick and the Technical Old Boys' team to visit Helensville next Saturday. It was announced that the following junior grade championships had been concluded:—• Junior grade: Manukau won with Ponsonbv runner-up. Fourth grade. Northcote won with Suburbs runner-up. Sixth erade: Suburbs won, with Northcote runner-up. Junior boys' competitions:—Senior grade: Winner, Suburbs; runner-up, Manukau: Intermediate boys: Winner, Manukau; runner-up, Mari6t. It was agreed that the match between Manukau and Otahuhu at Sturges Park on October 6 would be a challenge for the Jordan Cup. The proceeds will be donated toward the funds of the Otahuhu branch of the St. John Ambulance Brigade and the Otahuhu Plunket Society. The ambulance brigade has equipped an up-to-date ambulance room at Sturges Park and its action is greatly appreciated both by the union and the players. Messrs J. W. Lethbridge and E. York were appointed managers of the Auckland team at Eden Park next Saturday and Mr T. French and Mr J. Coulter as" manager# of the Maori team.
THE LEAGUE CODE ASHER TESTIMONIAL MATCH It was reported at last evening's meeting: of the Auckland Rugby League that the sum of £l5O had been received for the Albert Asher testimonial match, and that other amounts donated by clubs would.augment the fund. A deputation from the primary schools' control board made a lengthy statement on the recent tour of a team to the South Island and the prospects of future visits. Messrs L. Rout and M. Wetherill reported that South Island leagues proposed to carry out the establishment of a grade for boys under 1(5 years of age and under Sst 91b in weight. This had already been suggested in Auckland. The Otahuhu cluh was granted permission to travel to the West Coast, the team to leave Auckland on September 29. A return match between Auckland and South Auckland will be played at Huntiy on Saturday week, following the completion of transport arrangements. Fixtures for Saturday:—Roope Rooster: North Shore v.
