HONEY PAYMENT

SUPPLIES TO DEPARTMENT THE PAST TWO SEASONS (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Thursday "Beekeepers who hare forwarded their honey production to the Internal Marketing Division during the past two seasons will receive an increased payment of a halfpenny per pound on the supplies," stated the Minister of Marketing, Mr Roberts, today. "A fortnight ago I made a special appeal to beekeepers to forward as much honey as possible to the Auckland branch of the Internal Marketing Dirision in order to meet a special request by Great Britain for 500.tons of honey, and Ifam advised that increased quantities are coming forward. For this response I thank the beekeepers concerned. "As I realise that beekeepers selling direct to the public are obtaining a financial advantage over suppliers to the dirision," the Minister continued, "it has been decided to make a retrospective additional pay-out of a half- ! penny per pound on supplies received by j the division during the 1943-44 and ' 1944-45 seasons. As this pay-out will be imet by the accumulated credit balance | in the division's honey account, it will I mean neither a subsidy to the producers | nor an increase in the consumer price j of honey."
