SHIPPING DAMAGED
ENEMY AIR ATTACKS 77 PLANES DESTROYED (Reed. 0.80 p.m.) NEW YORK. May 28 A Pacific Ocean Areas Communique from Admiral Nimitz's headquarters on Guam reports that on the night of May 27 the enemy made substantial air attacks on our shipping at Okinawa, sinking one light unit and causing light to moderate damage to 12 light units and auxiliaries. Incomplete pieliminary reports indicate that about 77 enemy planes were destroyed.
