TRAINING IN OBSTETRICS

An account of the development and progress of the movement to establish an obstetrical, hospital and post-gradu-ate training school in Auckland was given by Dr Hilda Northcroft at the monthly meeting of the women's organisation of the National Party. After outlining efforts made since 1940, Dr Northcroft said that word had now been received from the Minister of Health, Mr Nordmeyer, by the Auckland Hospital Board asking it to provide beds for maternity cases meantime in the hospital, so that at least a start can be made with < the training service designed to give young doctors some experience in obstetrics. There was at present a small unit of seven beds with a little nursery attached, and it was hoped to extend these temporary quarters until the building promised by the Government could he built.
