CHILD KILLED

STRUCK BY TRAM ACCIDENT IN THE CITY Fatal injuries were suffered by a child when she was run over by a tramcar near the intersection of St. Martin's Lane and Lower Symonds Street, City, about four o'clock yesterday afternoon. The victim was Myra Nelson, aged three years, daughter of .Mr and Mrs George Nelson, of 5 St. Martin's Lane. The child, who was on the eastern side of Symonds Street witlr a brother aged six and a sister aged five, is believed to have run across the road in front of the oncoming train, which was bound for the city. Some difficulty was experienced in jacking up the vehicle to extricate the child and a- number of trams were held up at the scene of the accident. The child was taken to the Auckland Hospital, but died in the casualty department a few minutes after her arrival. INFANT RUN OVER FALL FROM CAR BUMPER (0.c.) TE KUITI, Sunday A 15-months-old child, Richard Terence Carter Dixon, son of Mr and Mrs S. Dixon, of Te Kuiti, was killed as a result of a motor accident yesterday. The child apparently climbed on to the front bumper while the driver of the car was absent and was not noticed by him or a companion when they returned. After the car had moved several chains, the baby fell from the bumper and was run over.
