MOUNT LYELL PROFITS DECREASE IN DIVIDEND The net profit of Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Co., Ltd., for the year ended September 30 shows a sharp fall. At £109,200. it is a decrease of £50,032 on the year. Dividend is Is Od a share (7 l / a per rent), against Is Od a sluire for the previous three years. The final dividend of Is includes Oil a share exempt from income tax in shareholders' hands. Last yrnr's dividend was wholly taxable. The amount required is £110,250, exceeding the profit by £7041. The credit balance brought into the accounts was £105,709. UNION OIL ACCOUNTS The accounts of the Union Oil, Soap and Candle Co. for the year ended September 30 show a net profit of £3414, compared with £3485 last year and £3850 in 1042. With £587 brought in, there is £4OOI available. As already announced, the directors recommend a final dividend of Od a share, making Is for the year (unchanged). The total dividend requires £3750, leaving £251 to be carried forward. Gross profit was £IB,OOI, compared with £10,316 in the previous year.
