Waikato, Thames, Tauranga, Bay of Plenty and Opotiki Hospital Boards be held to discuss a proposal to establish a sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis cases, the Auckland Hospital Board last night 3 agreed to ash the Health Department when it proposed to implement the decision. The board further decided to advise the department that it conk sidered the matter urgent and to sug--0 gest that the conference be held at the • earliest possible date. CONCERN IN WAIKATO 1 0 HOSPITAL BOARD'S DECISIONS ? (0.C.) HAMILTON, Monday Concern was expressed at a meeting of the Waikato Hospital Board today at the prevalence of tuberculosis in the board's districts, especially among the native population. The discussion arose from reference to two nurses at the Waikato Hospital who had contracted the disease and were eligible for a grant from the board of £1 weekly. A resolution that the board inform the Education Department that it was ,f alarmed at the suggestion that tuber--1 culosis was being spread among children t by overcrowding in school buses, and s ask that the matter be attended to, was s carried. It was suggested that the Health Department should inspect the r buses regularly to see that they were clean and properly ventilated. Another point raised was the need for a separate tuberculosis hospital in the board's district. The medical superintendent, Dr H. L. Gould, said that, although there were culosis patients in the Waikato Hospital, they were not all sanatorium 1 cases.
