GAMING CHARGE
FORMER NIGHT CLUB OCCUPIER FINED £IOO Charged with allowing tlio premises known at the Club Silver Slipper, in Kurt Street, to ho used as a common gaming-house, the occupier, Alexandet Watt Wilson, labourer, aged •'ll, pleaded guilty before Mr F. H. Levied, S.M., yesterday. Detective-Sergeant Baylis said the premises were visited the pre\ious aftcr--110011 by Detectives Ma hood and Duncan, following a complaint by a man who had lost a large sum of money earlier in the day. About 20 men were gathered round a billiard table playing two-up with dice. Accused, who was acting as croupier, was quite frank with the police, and said he was paying £ls a week as rental. The premises, which were previously a night club, were set up lor gaming, there being n push-bell on the street door, and a doorkeeper to admit patrons. It appeared that accused was a professional gambler . Suggesting that inquiries should he madi" to see whether the owner of the premises could be proceeded against, the magistrate imposed the maximum line of i' 100 and ordered immediate pavincut, in default three months imprisonment.
