PUBLIC NOTICES DOST OF AUCKLAND. A CONTROL OP INCOMING AND OUTGOING SHIPPING TRAFFIC!. As from 6 a.m., January 1, 1944, and whenever the Gate Vessels at the Boom' Defences for the Port of Auckland are NOT displaying the regulation signals to indicate that the Gate is open, shipping traffic, involving vessels of 400 tons or less, will be controlled by two Naval launches, acting as Traffic Control Vessels, one to the eastward of the Gate controlling incoming -traffic, and the other to the westward of the Gate controlling outgoing traffic. Both Traffic Control Vessels will display the following distinguishing signals at the masthead:— (a) By Day—Pendant Six International. (b) By Night—Three white all-round lights, vertical, two feet apart. In addition to the distinguishing signal, the Traffic Control Vessels will display a signal to indicate "to approaching vessels of 400 tons or less that the passage through 'the Boom is open or closed as follows: (a) "PASSAGE OPEN"—By Day: A GREEN flag wjth a white diagonal stripe. By Night: Long GREEN flashes made in the direction of the approaching vessel. (b) "PASSAGE CLOSED"—By Day: A RED flag with a white diagonal stripe. By Night: Snort RED flashes made in the direction of the approaching vessel. All vessels navigating in the Gate passage and in the vicinity of the Boom Defences ore to observe the Regulations for the prevention of collisions at sea. Subject to the above they are NOT to enter the Gate passage until the signals displayed by the Traffic Control Vessels indicate that the passage is OPEN.
