ROADS DAMAGED VEGETABLE GROWING WORK (0.c.) HAMILTON, Thursday ' A request made by the Waipa County Council for compensation for the damage done to the county roads by extraordinary traffic caused by the Government vegetable-growing project at Koromatua, has been declined by the Government. The Hon. 1). Wilson wrote stating that the council would be receiving rates from the Koromatua area. If the vegetable production had been arranged on a contract basis with local landowners, he added, there would have been no question of Government assistance. It was pointed out by a member of the council that the rates would be insufficient to maintain the road. It was decided to ask the Government to reconsider the matter.
