Games for Your Party

This is a good game to commence, a Christmas party, when everybody feels a bit shy. First arrange that one girl is a "fairy godmother," but taking care it is unknown to all else. She may have chocolate or lollies as a gift that she can later present to the lucky person. Then announce that the fairy godmother is among them aud has a gift for the 10th person frho shakes her hand. Everyone will at once begin to shake everybody else's hands and when the godmother has her 10th handshake she will halt the game and make the presentation. —From Jean Fortune (15), M.B.G. Word Contest. —It is often advisable to have a quiet, sitting-down game on Christmas Day to amuse the children. Supply all players with a pencil and paper and then tell them to write the word "CHRISTMAS" on top of the paper. Ten minutes is allowed for them to write all the words that they can from the letters in the word Christmas, The one having the mo6t- words is the winner of the prize. —From Barbara Fordham (13). Hunting Hats. —This game can be played best with about 10 children. Each child is given a paper hat (each hat being different) which they put in the middle of the room. Someone plays the piano and the children walk £Ound the room. When the music stops all the children run and put on their hats. The last child to put on his hat is out. If a hat is torn down the side while putting it on the owner of the hat is also out. It is a game of speed and carefulness. —Original. by Mary Willis (14), D.D.M.B.G.
