NAVAL WEDDING STEVENS—G RAH AM-KELL The wedding of Miss Patricia GraliamKell, voungest daughter of the late Captain and Mrs H. J. Grnham-Kell, of Auckland, to Lieutenant (j.g.) Charles Sidney Stevens, "United States Coast Guard Reserve, only eon of Dr. and Mrs. Charles S. Stevens, of California, U.S.A., took place on Saturday afternoon at St. Matthew's Church, Auckland. The Rev. H. K. Vickery officiated. The bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. M. Trevor Davis, woii£ an afternoon frock of white crepe, made with graduated tucks from the square neckline to the hem. Her small petalled hat of white organdie was finished with a veil and bow at the back, and she carried a bouquet of white gardenias and carnations. Her sister, Mrs. Trevor Davis, who was matron of honour, wore a suit of delphinium blue crepe, a small hat of the same material and wine accessories. She carried a sheaf of shaded delphiniums and wine-coloured carnations. Little Suzanne Davis, acting as a small attendant, wore a frock of the same crepe as her mother's, and carried a posy of love-in-the-mist to match the flowers in her hair. Lieutenant (j.g.) She carried a bouquet of cream and pink roses, attending the bride were Miss Molly McOnie and Miss Reta Warner, bridesmaids, wearing powder . blue georgette frocks. Two flower girls, Peggy Gilmer and Val Heron, wore frocks of shell pink georgette. They carried bouquets of rosebuds, carnations and sweet peas. Gunner R. C. Moyle, brother of th<> bridegroom, was best man, and Private D. 13. Patterson was groomsman. The reception was held at the Centreway Tearooms. The bride's two grandmothers and a grandmother of the bridegroom were present. S.P.C.A. ACTIVITIES Although the war has necessarily created many difficulties, and has to some extent limited the scope of the work done by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the ladies' committee has maintained most of its activities with well-deserved suc- | cess. The funds which are so necessary I might easily have suffered badly as a result of the urgent demands of patriotic work, but the ladies' committee has helped to raise money by means of several very successful bridge parties and jumble sales, one of the latter being held to-day at St. Matthew's Hall. At the last meeting of the committee the following officers were re-elected for the ensuing year:—Chairman, .Mrs. B. J. Marquet; vice-presi-dent, Mrs. Victor Millard; secretary, M iss M. Metzger; treasurer, Mrs. H. Knowles. TRAVEL CLUB PROGRAMME A colour motion film of New Zealand was shown at last week's meeting of the Travel Club by Mr. R. K. Champtaloup. who also gave a commentary 011 the film. Captain Peter Mcintyre gave an address 011 his work as war artist with the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
