REBATE REVOKED
CHARGES ON THE WHARVES Premature generosity on the part of the Auckland Harbour Board had to be remedied at its meeting yesterday, when an Easter concession made to some of its clients was revoked. At its March meeting, the board, on the understanding that the Overtime and Holidays Suspension Order, 1941, applied to all its employees and that therefore only double and not treble rates would have to be paid for work Kerformed on Good Friday and Easter [onday, decided to grant a rebate of 50 per cent on charges for certain work done on those days. The superintendent advised yesterday's meeting that the order had been amended so as not to apply to workers under the harbour boards' employees award. The board rescinded its previous resolution and decided to adhere to the charges set out in the by-laws for statutory holidays.
