General Sikorski Returns. The Polish leader, General Sikorski, lias returned to Britain after visiting the United States and Canada. 1 D.F.O. for American.—The King has approved the award of . the Distinguished Flying Cross to an American, Pilot-Officer L. E. Wade, of Texas, for gallantry in the Middle East. Britain's Bomber Policy.—The belief that Britain is devoting too much time to the production of large four-eugined bombers and too littlo time to the manufacture of smaller, faster bombers, was expressed yesterday by the air commentator Mr. Oliver Stewart. American Naval Forces.—The new commander of the United States naval forces in European waters, Admiral Harold Stark, pointed to the transfer of American ships to the European side of the Atlantic as an indication that the United States is prepared to see the war through to the bitter end. Industrial Commandos.—The formation of a corps of industrial commandos in the United States has been suggested in Washington by a former consulting engineer of the Office of Production ImiTigernent. These men would be prepared to step into the breach wherever there were bottlenecks in production, and to cut red tape. Merchant Seamen- Awards. —The United States Senate has completed legislation authorising the awarding of medals to members of the United •States merchant marine who distinguish themselves during the war by outstanding conduct or service in the line of duty. The Senate passed the bill unanimously following on similar action by the House of Representatives.
