RELEASE FROM COMMAND

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday At the request of the Minister of Justice, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, Colonel E. H. Northcroft is being released from the command of the Christchurch fortress area. This is necessary because the duties of the Command have become so expanded as to require full-time service. This situation was not contemplated when the Minister consented to Mr. Justice Northcroft's making his experience as an artillery officer available -to the defence authorities.
