MAORI M.P. RIDES HORSE

(0.C.) CEBISTCBUKCH, Monday Riding through the city on the trotter Streamline, the member of Parliament for Southern Maori, Mr. E. T. Tirikatene, gave a practical demonstration in petrol conservation. Mr. Tirikatene bought Streamline last week, and used her for transport round the city, before leaving on horseback for his home at Kaiapoi. Streamline, an aged chestnut mare, is by Native King—Wildchild, and has started in eight races. For some time now, Mr. Tirikatene has been using horse transport, while his 12-cylinder motor-car, in the 16-miles-to-the-gallon class, ließ in its garage at his home.
