CRIMINAL CHARGES

MANY CASES FOR TRIAL

The cases for trial at the quarterly criminal sessions of the Supreme Court opening this morning number 22. Many of the charges are of a serious nature, and they include one of attempted murder, two of manslaughter, two of robbery with violence and two against the same man of aggravated assault on a police constable. A man and a woman will be charged separately with unlawful use of an instrument and there is a joint charge against a man and woman of assisting a mental defective to escape. A motorist will be charged with negligent driving so as to cause death, and another with failing to stop after an accident. Other charges are of conducting prohibited meetings and of publishing a subversive statement. The trials will be conducted by Mr. Justica Fair and Mr. Justice Callan.
