Maori Gold (West Coast).—Mr. D. Caithness, formerly dredgemaster, has been appointed mines superintendent and Mr. A. J. Caithness has been made dredgemaster.
The Auckland Grain, Seed and Produce Merchants' Association reports:— Wheat. —Fair stocks of Australian wheat ire held by merchants, and the demand is being mot through store, with prices ranging from 7s 3d to 7s 'ld a bushel. Maize. —Ample supplies are available and are meeting with an increased demand, through store prices being 7s lOd to a bushel for whole maize, and fes to 8s 2d for kibbled. Stockmeal. —Stocks are not heavy and thero is a strong inquiry through store at £lO 17a Cd to £ll 10s a ton. Oats. —The oat market for the south is verv firm. The demand, however, is quiet, and ample stocks are held, local prices ranging from 5s 3d to 5s <ld a bushel. Barley.—The demand for barley is increasing but good stocks are held in store, undipped selling at from 5s lOd to 6s a bushel, and clipped 6s 3d to 6s Cd. Chaff. —Merchants are holding fair stocks, and the market is steady at from £lO 15s to £ll 19s a ton - New , season 8 chaff wi " probably be available this month.
(OC) PUKEKOHE, Monday As heavier supplies become available Pukekohe onions continue to recede in price. Sales were made to-day at 8s od per cwt, on rail, Pukekohe a drop of 2s Od since last Monday. A few potatoes are coming forward and are selling' at the ceiling price, of 21s 8d per rwt Pickling onions continue to sell at 14s ner cwt, cabbages at 7s 6d a Chapman bag, carrots at 9s a sugar bag, and swedes at 6s a sugar bag.
