WELCOME IN SYDNEY UNITED STATES AND CHINA (Reed. 1.2.40 a.m.) SYDNEY, Sept. u The new United States Minister to Australia, Mr. Nelson Johnson, accompanied by his family, also Colonel Merle-Smith, United States Military attache, and his assistant, Lieutenant Robert O'Dcll, have arrived in Sydney. They were met by Federal Ministers and other prominent persons, and were warmly welcomed. The new American Consul-General, Mr. C. H. Derry, has also arrived. Still another arrival is the Chinese Minister to Australia, Dr. Hsu Mo. He said the Chinese people never had any doubt about the outcome of the conflict in Europe and Asia. It had been Chinese policy to offer resistance to aggression and eoincidently to pursue the work of national reconstruction.
