DAIRY PROBLEMS

NATIONAL CONFERENCE Matters of importance to the dairy industry will be discussed at the National Dairy Conference to be officially opened in the Town Hall concert chamber at two o'clock this afternoon bv the Minister of Marketing the Hon. J. G. Barclay. .More than 300 delegates will be welcomed by the Mayor, Mr. J. A. C. Alluin. One of the chief topics to be discussed will lie the costs of changing over the industry to cheese production. Another proposal will be "that, in view of the proposed stabilisation of wages and prices, it should be the responsibility of the Government to purchase and pay for all dairy farm products." Other remits covering a wide variety of subjects will be discussed at the conference, which will be concluded tomorrow. In addition to the conference, the annual meetings of a number of associated organisations will be held. This morning the National Association, the National Dairy Federation and the Dairy Industry Insurance Agency will meet. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Co-operative Rennet Company, Limited, will be held to-night, and that of the New Zealand Producers' Co-operative Marketing Association, Limited, to-morrow afternoon.
