FARMERS' APPEALS
CRITICISM RESENTED The notion of the chairman of the Auckland District Council of Primary Production in replying to statements by the chairman of the No. 1 Armed Forces Appeal Board in regard to the attitude of the farming community to the board was endorsed at a meeting of the council yesterday. The chairman, Mr. I!. C. Clark, said members would have noted the statement by the board chairman, -Mr. C. R. Oit Walker, that the farmers had not awakened to their responsibilities. "It seemed to me that the statement was not warranted, as no section ot the community is more conscious of its responsibilities than the farmers." said Mr. Clark. He recalled that the council had offered to help the board, and it appeared from the board's reply that it had no difficulties with the farming community. A resolution was passed recording the council's offer, in its capacity as a responsible body representing the farmers, to assist the board.
