REDUCED LIGHTS

MOTOR RESTRICTIONS

AREAS IN AUCKLAND

The areas in the Auckland metropolitan district in which motor vehielei must he driven at night with reduced lights are expected to be announced in a special gazette to-night. It is understood they will extend from the Mangore and Panmure bridges to the Wliau bridge and embrace the four North Shore boroughs.

In this area motorists will drive with headlights dipped and the parking lights on. It is believed that there will be no areas in which only parking lights are to be used. By arrangement with the Commissioner of Transport the Automobile Association (Auckland) is undertaking the erection of black signs with special reflecting lettering for the purpose of warning motorists when they are entering a headlight restricted district. The touring manager of the Association, Mr. E. E. Champtaloup. stated yesterday that every road entering the Auckland restricted area would be signposted by next Monday evening. The association will also erect similar signs in Whangarei and Gisborne by the end of the month.
