DEATH OF WITNESS
APPEAL BOARD CASE
COLLAPSE DURING EVIDENCE A witness, Mr. Eric Henry Frost, of 7 Harwood Avenue, Mount Albert, collapsed and died during the sitting of the No. I Armed Forces Appeal Board yesterday. He collapsed while giving evidence to support the appeal on conscientious grounds of his son, Richard Eric Henry Frost, an electrical assembler, aged 21, whose appeal was against Territorial Force service. It was stated that .Mr. Frost was a retired Indian civil servant who came to New Zealand to live only a few years ago. His son had said he was appealing on religious grounds and was not willing to undertake, ae contrary to the teachings of Christ, military service of either combatant or non-combatant type. However, he was willing to carry out any civil work to help the authorities. He belonged to a body of Christians who met in one another's homes. Appellant's father had given corroborative evidence and was making a further statement of his and his son's beliefs when he collapsed. Doctors conducting medical examinations nt the drill hall in Rutland Street went to the appeal board, but Mr. Frost had died. The son's case was adjourned until the first sitting in September.
