BRITISH LADIES' GOLF
The annual meetjng ot the British Ladies' Golf Union was held in London last month, under the chairmanship of Lady Astor. There was rnllier a sorry tale to tell about the shrinkage of income, but the union has been able to do some splendid work to help the war effort. In spill' of the fact that hundreds of girl golfers have given up their sport in order to go in for full-time war work, there are still some ir>.OOD women golfers in llie country. But, subscriptions to the union have now dropped to one-third of their original amount. Nevertheless. £IOO was allotted to the running of Bed Cross tournaments ill over the country. These events, too, havo been a great success, as the L.G.U. has already sent a cheque for £IOOO to the fund. The union has also succeeded in collecting £BOO for a Spitfire fund.
