BOXING CONTESTS
PROGRAMME FOR MONDAY Two professional bouts have been selected by the Auckland Boxing Association for its special patriotic carnival to be held at the Town Hall on Monday next. In the main contest Vic C'altaux, New Zealand welterweight champion, meets Cliff Hanhani, of Wnimate. at catch-weights over ten Ihreeminnte rounds. Hanham. who holds the middle-v eicrht title, is an attractive boxer and with his superior weight, should prove a difficult proposition for the Aucklander Caltaux however, always shows to advantage in ;i fast, rugged fight and the bout is expected lr. provide plenty of spirited action. fn the supporting bout the clever young ex-amateur champion, Clarrie Gordon, has been matched with Tommy Hansen, of Wellington. in a light-weight contest of eight three-minute rounds. The amateur preliminaries have been selected with a view to providing close and keenly-contested bouts, and are as follows: — T,ight-heavv-wei(.lit, H.
