OPENING SERIES TO-DAY
The Country Week hockey tourney for ladies' teams will be commenced by the Auckland Ladies Hockey Association at Melville Park to-day Seven teams are competing, four in the A section and three in the B section The draw for the opening series is as followsA Section. —Waikato v. Whangarei B, 1.4-"> p.m.. Miss Dawson and Mrs. Nicholson; Aiickland A v. Northern Wairoa. 3 p.m Mrs Hamlin and Mrs. Jensen. B Section. —Hauraki Plains v. Whangarei A. :t p.m., Miss Dawson and Mrs. Nicholson: Auckland B. a bye
PATRIOTIC EFFORT
PRIZE TO BE RETURNED
The sum of £ic> was collected by hockey enthusiasts during the Barrow Day effort, according to a report submitted at the last meeting of the executive of the Auckland Hockey Association. It was derided to return the prize won by Ihe association for the bestdecorated fleet of barrows. Permission was granted (ho Wesley Club to withdraw its third grade team, and the Somerville Club to withdraw its third grade B team. , It was agreed to accept entries from the I'a pa loci op Club in the fifth grade and from the St. Luke's Club in the seventh grade. The president, Mr L. H. Xorton. offered to interview some of the primary schools with a view to organising a primary schools' hockey corn pet ll ion
