Favourable comment on the service for troops provided by the Carrie Hostel, compared with hostels in other centres, was contained in a report- presented at last night's meeting of the executive and finance sub-committee of the Auckland Metropolitan. Patnotic Committee. The visit of Mr. C. J. Fcrrier, president of the Union Jack Club, Christchurch, was quoted. This club,_ it was stated, was similar to the Carrie Hostel, but there the charge was 2s 6d a bed and cup of tea in the morning, compared with Is charged in Auckland. .Most, of the patrons at the C-hristchurch centre slept on mattresses on the floor. The Hon. W. Perry, had paid a visit to the hostel, and had promised all support he could give.
