EXEMPTION FROM SERVICE

Sir, —In reply to R. S. W. Hunt, whoso letter appeared on Thursday, I. would like to put forward the case of quite a number of the workers in essential industries. Quito a number of the essential workers to whom your correspondent would apply a special tax (like myself), volunteered when war first broke out, but were held back hv Government order to carry on industry until such time as replacements could' be trained to take their 1 places. Why should we bo subjected to a special tax when we are not staying behind of our own free will, but it is a matter out of our hands entirely? It would be well if Mr. Hunt would exercise a little of British justice. Frank Sadlier.
